This month our Client Spotlight takes a look behind the scenes of Carrie Cotton’s Interior Design Business. Carrie has over 14 years experience renovating and designing. Carrie works with her clients to build an Interior Design plan within their budget so they can take the next steps to create their ideal home.
We asked Carrie a few questions to find out more about her business.
To help people feel at home in every room of their house – through Interior Design. I want to help people feel happier and more comfortable in their homes.
I have created a process to work with my clients to take them from overwhelmed with interior design and into a home that they love and feel proud of. I offer this process in real time to help clients design or finish rooms in their home and then hand them a step-by-step, take action plan to implement. So, your house problems are designed and solved by me, then implemented by you following a step-by-step plan but I realised that wasn’t enough. To make sure my client’s design is implemented to their full satisfaction, I stay on as an advisor until we are both satisfied with the results.
I work alone but have several Tradespeople that I call upon for projects.
Giving away too much time for free on a project. I operate on a set fee instead of an hourly one and I work very hard to get every single detail just right for my clients …in the process I usually go over my allotted time.
Just show up, every day.
I just try to appreciate a few minutes here or there (a nice bath, reading before bed, a quiet Sunday afternoon)…I am in the middle of the busiest part of my life with school-aged children and a business so my time alone expectations are pretty low.
I like the personal approach and strive to hire other female business owners when I can.
